Waltham - Mr. George D. Ryan, Jr., of Waltham, died Saturday, November 24, 2007 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was 68. Born in Boston, a son of the late George and Josephine (Quirk) Ryan, George had worked for the past three years at Brandeis University as a facilities manager. George also served with the United States Army. He was the son-in-law of the late Charles F. Sweny and brother-in-law of the late Richard Kenney and Edward Fields. George was the beloved husband of Joanne (Sweny) Ryan, the devoted father of Matthew C. Ryan, and the loving brother of Robert Ryan and his wife, Ann, of Medfield, Marilyn Fields of Manchester-by-the Sea, and Joseph Ryan and his wife, Fran, of Quincy. He was also a brother-in law of Susan Diguette and her, husband, Paul of Acton, Michael Sweny and his wife, Pat, of Walpole, Marie Cullen and her husband, Paige, of Mason, Ohio, and Julie Kenney of Methuen and the son-in-law of Barbara E. Sweny of Stoneham. George also leaves many nieces and nephews. The Funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9 a.m. from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Mary’s Church, 133 School Street, Waltham at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Pancreatic and Breast Cancer Foundation, 55 Fruit Street, Boston, MS 02114.
