Mr. George B. Walker of Waltham, died Saturday, October 23, at Newbridge on the Charles Healthcare Center in Dedham. He was 88.
George was born in Kirkcaldy, Scotland on February 21, 1922, a son of the late Albert K. and Margaret T. (Beveridge) Walker, he had lived in Hyde Park for many years before moving to Waltham in 1961. Until his retirement, George was a fan assembler for thirty-eight years at Westinghouse in Hyde Park in the sturtevant division. He was a World War II veteran serving with the United States Navy, and also enjoyed golfing and bowling.
George was the husband of the late Olivia R. (Sears) Walker who died June 3 2009, and brother of the late William Walker and Alison Morse.
He leaves two sons, Steven G.Walker and his wife, Maura, of Swindon, England, Ronald Walker and his companion, Stacey A. Conway of Easton; his grandchildren, Aoife and Niamh Walker and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember George's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home 245 Main Street ( Rte.20), Waltham on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
