Georgia “Gia” (Kosta) Tracey, of Attleboro, formerly of Waltham, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at Hope Hospice in Providence Rhode Island. She was 95.
Born on March 11, 1929 in Korçë, Albania, Gia was the beloved daughter of the late Kosta and Efigjeni Kosta. At a young age, she moved to the United States with her family, growing in South Boston and graduating from Dorchester High School. Throughout her life, she remained deeply connected to her Albanian heritage, particularly through her faith and her membership at St. George Albanian Orthodox Cathedral, where she was an active lifelong participant.
On August 30, 1964, Gia married her beloved husband, Peter Tracey, a native of Waltham. Together, they created a loving home where they raised their daughter, Lisa, and shared nearly 50 wonderful years until Peter’s passing in 2013. Gia dedicated many years to the Waltham Public Schools as a teacher's aide, forming meaningful connections within the community and creating lasting friendships, particularly with her girlfriends from their Ravenswood Road neighborhood. She also enjoyed shopping trips and vacations to Cape Cod with Peter.
Gia leaves her daughter Lisa M. Tracey of Attleboro; her nieces, Lynda, Antoniou of Walpole, Janice Shuman and her husband Paul, of Canton, and many grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was also the aunt of the late Susan Foley.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Gia’s life by gathering for a morning wake at St. George Albanian Orthodox Cathedral, 523 East Broadway, South Boston on Tuesday, September 17 from 9 to 11 a.m. with her Funeral Service beginning at 11 AM. Burial will follow in Mount Feake cemetery in Waltham.
In lieu of flowers donations in Gia’s name may be made to The Susan P. Foley Memorial Fund, a scholarship set up in honor of her niece. https://www.coreboxtrainingcenter.com/golf
