Waltham – Mrs. Georgina M. (MacLeod) Thompson, of Waltham, died Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at Maristhill Nursing Home. She was 89. Born in Inverness, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Mrs. Thompson had lived in Watertown for forty years before moving to Waltham fifteen years ago. She was a homemaker and longtime volunteer for the American Red Cross. Mrs. Thompson was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Waltham. A daughter of the late John and Sarah (Ferguson) MacLeod, she leaves her children, Scott J. Thompson and his wife, Carol of Melrose, Jeffrey W. Thompson and his wife, Sandy of Waltham, and Laurie D. Venuti and her husband, Jimmy of Bedford; her daughter-in-law, of Cely Thompson of Waltham; four sisters, May Mullins, June Majury, and Elizabeth MacQueen all of Canada, and Sadie MacQueen of Newton, 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Allan R. Thompson. Visiting hours will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham. Funeral services and burial will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, 29 Crafts Street, Suite 450, Newton, MA 02458.
