Mr. Gerald Lys of Waltham died Monday, May 23, 2016 in his home. He was 65. Mr. Lys was born in Pestel, Haiti, on September 3, 1950.
A son of the late Marie Louise Lys, Gerald had lived in Waltham for the past sixteen years.
He was awarded a culinary arts certificate and had worked as a chef at the Westin Hotel and Brandeis University.
Gerald leaves his children, Frantzces Lys of Silver Spring MD, Emmanuel Lys and Malica Lys both of Waltham; his grandchildren, Kathron Nicolas, Lucas E. Morreno-Lys, Leanna Morreno-Lys, and Layla Morreno-Lys; his siblings, Mauna Lys, Jean Lys, Immacula Lys, and Nichol Lys; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Gerald's life by gathering for calling hours on Friday, June 3, from 6 to 9 p.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, (Rte. 20), Waltham and again on Saturday at 9 a.m. before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
