Waltham Miss Geraldine Bacon, a lifelong Waltham resident, died Tuesday, February 20, 2007 in Meadow Green Nursing Home, Waltham, after an illness. She was 89. She was born January 21, 1918, daughter to the late Harry W. and Emily V. (Johnson) Bacon. Geraldine graduated from Waltham High School and the former Bentley Evening School, now Bentley College. Geraldine worked as a bookkeeper for over 57 years for the former Waltham Chemical Company, now Waltham Services, retiring at age 80, in 1998. Geraldine will be lovingly remembered as a shy, but loyal and devout friend. She was an avid bowler, sports fan and had a strong love for her City of Waltham. Other interests included travel to New York City and York, Maine. She loved her dogs. She leaves many close and dear friends and co-workers. Other close friends, including Ruth MacNeill and Gertrude Kent, predeceased her. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Friday at 11:00 a.m.in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Dover. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Memorials in her name to the Alzheimers Association of Eastern MA, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472 or to the Friends of the Waltham Public Library, 735 Main Street, Waltham, MA 02451 would be appreciated.
