Geraldine M. Pendergast

Waltham – Mrs. Geraldine M. ‘Gerri’ (Melanson) Pendergast, of Waltham, died Saturday, October 21, 2006 at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. She was 78. Gerri was the wife of the late John J. ‘Jack’ Pendergast, Jr. who died last December. They had been married for fifty-eight years. Born in Waltham, a daughter of the late George and Eva (Drisdale) Melanson, she was a lifelong resident. Until her retirement, Gerri worked as a manager at Yolanda’s in Waltham, and before that, she sold cosmetics at Grover Cronin’s Department Store on Moody Street in Waltham for many years. Gerri was a Eucharistic Minister at Saint Jude Church in Waltham and had been a former member of Saint Jude’s Ladies Sodality and the Couples Club. She had also belonged to the Grover Cronin Quarter Century Club. She leaves her children, John W. ‘Jack’ Pendergast and his wife, Patricia A., of Waltham and Patricia A. Faulkner and her husband, Robert F., of Dillsburg, Pennsylvania; her grandchildren, Brian and Alicia Pendergast and Sean and Kevin Faulkner; three brothers, George Melanson of Scituate, William Melanson of Waltham, and Lawrence Melanson of Ft. Myers, Florida; three sisters, Gloria Goodwin of Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Florida, Lorraine LeBlanc of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and Louise Jones of New Hampshire and many nieces and nephews. She was also a sister of the late Raymond and Corrine Melanson. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
