Boston – Rev. Gerard E. Pelletier, S.M. of Boston died on Monday, April 21, 2014 in Marian Manor, South Boston. He was 81.
Fr. Pelletier was born on in Van Buren, Maine on August 19, 1932, a son of the late Onezime and Zeline Pelletier. He attended Van Buren Boy's High and graduated from Marvyale Seminary in Bedford, Massachusetts in 1950. On February 2, 1960 he was ordained in Washington D.C.
Serving for over fifty-four years, Fr. Pelletier had worked in a number of parishes throughout New England. He had also served as Chaplain at various hospitals including Pilgrim State Hospital in West Brentwood, New York, Manchester Memorial Hospital in Manchester, Connecticut, Saint Raphael's Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut and Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut. For the past ten years he had served as Chaplain at Sacred Heart Manor for the Sister Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Hampden, Connecticut.
In addition to the Marist Community he leaves his sister, Lillian Gagnon, of Van Buren, Maine and by many nieces and nephews including Glen Gagnon and Terry Robertson.
Family and friends will honor and remember Father Pelletier's life by gathering to visit on Friday, April 25th, at 9 am in Our Lady of Victories Church, 27 Isabella Street, Boston, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am. Burial will take place in Maine at a later date.
