Waltham - Mrs. Gertrude V. (Burke) Walker of Waltham died Wednesday, December 24, 2003 at Wingate at Brighton. She was 93. Born in Waltham, a daughter of the late Frederick and Isabelle (Taylor) Burke, she was a lifelong resident of Waltham. She was a graduate of Saint Mary's High School in Waltham and had worked for many years as a secretary at Hill Elementary and North Junior High Schools in Waltham. She later held the same position at the Waltham Veterans Services Office until her retirement. Mrs. Walker had also been a member of Saint Jude Ladies Sodality. The wife of the late Francis P. Walker, she leaves her children, Dr. Paul F. Walker and his wife Deborah of Cambridge and Dr. Joseph P. Walker and his wife Sally of Fort Myers, FL; her grandchildren, Ian, Drew, Megan and Brian Walker and many nieces and nephews. She was also a sister of the late Isabel M., Frederick, Edward and Rt. Rev. Joseph P. Burke and Madeline M. MacDonald. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral at 9:30 a.m. Saturday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral Saturday morning from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to Lakes Region Conservation Trust, P.O. Box 1097, Meredith, NH 03253.
