Getrude E. "Trudy" Poirier

Waltham – When Trudy Poirier drew her last breath on Sunday morning, a month after turning 100, she knew that when she left us she was loved and wanted and needed by the family that she adored.

And after one-hundred years that pretty much says it all . . . a pretty good record . . . and living proof that . . . "God could not be everywhere, so he created Mothers".

She was born in Lowell on February 10, 1917, a daughter of the late Albert and Blanche (Demers) Poirier and was raised and educated in Lowell. Trudy lived most of her life in Cambridge and in Belmont. Until retiring she worked for thirty-eight years at the Raytheon Corporation and before that worked at the Hood Rubber Company.

Gertrude E. "Trudy" Poirier died on Sunday, April 2, 2017 in Maristhill Nursing Home, Waltham. At Marist Trudy never lacked for company. Her roommates and fellow residents fell in love with her family who visited daily.

When the grandkids came along . . . Marc, Austin and Amy . . . Trudy was ecstatic. Every Thursday for years meant dinner at Friendly's with Nana and any day became a special day for Amy because Nana loved to shop too.

Trudy adored her great-grandchildren who affectionately called her "Super-Nana" . . . and for good reason. Trudy loved summer afternoons spent with Lorraine and Eddie and the kids on the Cape where a special swing was reserved for Nana's visits.

She leaves her daughter, Lorraine D. Jordan and her husband, Edward, of Waltham; her grandchildren, Marc Jordan, Austin Jordan and his wife, Michelle and Amy Forbes and her husband, John; her great-grandchildren, Emily Jordan, Jared Forbes, Abigail Jordan, Olivia Jordan, Jessica Forbes and Sara Jordan.

She was also a sister of the late Albert W. "Bill" Poirier, Yvonne Berman and Rita McKenna.

Family and friends will honor and remember Trudy's life by gathering for her Memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 6th in Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham.
