Natick - Weston Police Officer Gilbert C. 'Gil' Boyes, Jr. of Natick died of pancreatic cancer on Thursday, November 19, 2009 in his home surrounded by his family. Gil was 53. He was born in Cambridge on July 1, 1956, and grew up in Weston where he graduated from Weston High School. Gil attended Northeastern University, earning a Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice while working full time as a police officer. He was a Weston Police Officer for nearly twenty-nine years. Gil enjoyed spending time with his wife and children as well as cooking, carpentry, landscaping, and skiing. He was a soccer coach for many years in Natick. Gil loved training dogs in obedience. He had a special fondness for his beloved doberman, Dutchess, who was an American Champion Show Dog. Gil is survived by his wife of twenty-eight years, Linda M. (Pagliazzo) Boyes; his children, 1st Lieut. Richard G. Boyes, United States Army, of Fountain, CO, Michael C. Boyes, Linda-Marie Boyes, and Elizabeth R. Boyes all of Natick. Family and friends will honor and remember Gil's life by gathering for calling hours at The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, (Rte. 20), Waltham on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm and again at 9 am on Tuesday before leaving in procession to Saint Julia's Church, 374 Boston Post Road, Weston where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am.
