Weston - Mrs. Gilda F. (Paladino) Colombo, of Weston, died at home on Thursday, February 26, 2015. She was 91.
Gilda was born on February 9, 1924 in Waltham a daughter of Italian immigrants Antonio and Angelina (Paladino) Paladino and was a graduate of Waltham High School. She was married to John Colombo for over 60 years until his death on April 3, 2004. They had been residents of Weston since 1979.
She worked for many years as a secretary at the Raytheon Company before retiring.
She and her late husband, John enjoyed traveling and wintered for many years in Florida. She kept her mind active with daily crossword puzzles and enjoyed eating out. True to her Italian heritage she will be remembered as a fantastic cook. She was a faithful member of Saint Julia's Parish.
In addition to her husband, John, she was predeceased by her siblings, Josephine Nicolazzo, Nellie Tambascia, Mary Vinciullo, Frances Evangelista and Mario and Salvatore Paladino.
She leaves her daughters, Anne D. McKinney of Attleborough and Gail E. Scansaroli and her husband, Aaron of Milford; her grandchildren, Michelle McDonald, Denise Creavin, Annette Grover, Sharon Mayo and Rosanne Soule; her great-grandchildren, Felicia, Cody, Kasey, Trevor, Danny, Sean, Anthony and Benjamin; her great-great-granddaughter, Angelina; many nieces and nephews and her dog, Sandy.
Family and friends will honor and remember Gilda's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Sunday, March 1st from 3 to 6 p.m. and again at 10 a.m. on Monday morning before leaving in procession to St. Julia's Church, 374 Boston Post Road, Weston where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery, Weston.
