Gloria 'Gigi' Gleason

Shrewsbury - Gloria G. 'Gigi' (Gentile) Gleason died Friday, November 24, 2023 after a period of declining health.

Gloria Rose Gentile was born in Springfield a daughter of the late Michael and Sylvia (Lak) Gentile. Raised in Springfield, she was a graduate of Cathedral High School. Prior to her marriage to Francis D. ‘Frank’ Gleason she worked at Pratt & Whitney then remained at home to raise her two children. Later in life she returned to work at Sears Roebuck, 1-800-Flowers and lastly at UMASS Memorial Healthcare as a receptionist at Memorial and University campuses. She was a familiar and helpful face for those needing direction and assistance at these hospitals.

In earlier years Gigi loved to ski in Vermont and was an active tennis player. She enjoyed her many friendships while a member of the Shrewsbury Tennis & Racquet Club. She also cherished spending time with family and friends in her West Yarmouth home on Cape Cod. It’s also a well-known ‘secret’ Gigi loved to shop and it was always with the intention of gift giving for family and friends. Throughout her life, Gigi’s Catholic faith remained unwavering and brought her peace and comfort.

She leaves her children, Deborah Gleason-Dabisch of Park Ridge, Illinois and Christopher M. Gleason and his wife, Kimberly of Andover, MA; her three beloved grandchildren, Matthew and Jack Dabisch and Lauren Gleason who were her pride and joy; she is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Gigi is predeceased by her son-in-law, James Dabisch; her sister, Lorraine Wagner; and her former husband, Francis 'Frank' Gleason.

Family and friends will honor and remember Gigi's life by gathering for visitation on Saturday, December 2nd in Saint Mary's Church, 640 Main Street, SHREWSBURY from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by her funeral Mass celebrated at 11 a.m. The Rev. Paul T. O'Connell will officiate. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury.
