Gloria Hickson

Waltham – Miss H. Gloria Hickson, of Waltham, died on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 in the Lahey Clinic, Burlington. She was 83.

Gloria was born in Boston on February 17, 1930, a daughter of the late Read and Effie (MacCormick) Hickson, and graduated from Girls High School in Boston in 1947. After that she attended Boston University. 1967 brought a move from Boston to Waltham where she's lived since.

For more than forty years she worked as an administrator for Sears, Roebuck and Company in Boston and after retiring joined the Sears Retirees Club, serving a term as the organization's president and treasurer.

After retiring from Sears Gloria went to work for another seven years at BayBank in Waltham.

In addition to her parents, Gloria was predeceased by her sister, B. Elizabeth McCurdy and leaves several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and friends will honor and remember Gloria's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Sunday November 3rd, from 2 to 4 p.m. and again on Monday morning at 11 a.m. when her funeral service will be held. Burial will follow in Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge.
