Watertown - Mrs. Gloria C. (Kavey) Murdock, of Watertown, died Friday, May 9, 2008 in her home. She was 79. Born in Allston, a daughter of the late John and Viola (Narey) Kavey, Gloria had lived in Watertown for many years. She was a 1947 graduate of Brighton High School. She worked for several years as an executive secretary for the DuPont Company in Boston and as a lunch matron for the Watertown School Department. Gloria was a volunteer at the Parker Playhouse in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida as well as the Fatima program of Saint Gabriel's Parish in Brighton. She also enjoyed playing Pokeno with many of her friends. Gloria was the wife of the late Richard S. Murdock and sister of the late William Kavey. She leaves her sons, Richard S. Murdock and his wife, Lori, of Rockland, John R. Murdock and his wife, Kathy, of Newburyport and Robert E. Murdock and his wife, Hillary, of Allendale, New Jersey; one brother, Robert Kavey of Waltham; two sisters, Barbara Tracey of Waltham, and Virginia Howard of Andover; seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The Funeral will be held on Wednesday at 8 a.m. from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in the Church of Saint Luke, 132 Lexington Street, Belmont at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Watertown.
