Grace E. (Butler) Murray

Mrs. Grace E. (Butler) Murray, of Waltham, died Thursday, February 1, 2024 in her home. She was 78.

Grace was born in Newton on November 6, 1945, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Pitts) Butler. Raised in Newton she was a graduate of Newton North High School. She enjoyed a lengthy career at Raytheon retiring after more than 35 years of service. There she worked in the manufacturing department, assembling pc boards, radar, and ship equipment including the Patriot missile.

She loved playing bingo locally with her longtime friend Judy and enjoyed vacationing with her at Old Orchard Beach in Maine. Together they would take their grandchildren during most summers for countless laughs and memories. She also liked playing bingo at ‘Funspot’ in New Hampshire with her grandchildren and enjoyed going boating on Lake Winnipesaukee. Many happy times were had on cruise vacations and during trips to Walt Disney World.

She leaves her children, James R. Murray (Patricia Proia Murray) of Waltham and Steven Murray (Syler Longaker Murray) of Miami, Florida; her grandchildren, Catherine Murray (Edward Dore), Laura Murray Hyson (Nicholas Hyson), Sutton Murray Harris (Shane Harris), Alicia Didino, Domenique Didino, and Louis Didino II; her great-grandchildren, Edward Murray, James Toles, and Morgan Tillery; her siblings, Mary Lou Butler Leger (Arthur Leger) of Billerica, Marjorie Butler Bevere of Billerica, Joseph Butler (Marcia Barisano Butler) of Needham; her sister-in-law, Irene Butler of Natick, and many nieces, nephews, and their families.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Ernest ‘Skippy’ Butler (late Marcia), Roy Butler, and George Butler.

Family and friends will honor and remember Grace’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham, on Monday, February 5th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again on Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m. when her funeral service will be held. Burial will be private.
