Waltham – Mr. Guy Andre Vallerand, of Waltham, died peacefully early Sunday morning, September 30, 2012 at his home following a brief battle with cancer. He was 75.
Guy was born in Montreal, Canada on August 29, 1937, a son of the late George and Andrea (Tardif) Vallerand, and moved with his family to Waltham when he was a child. A lifelong resident of the city, Guy worked as painting contractor all his life and established Vallerand & Sons Painting, a company now operated by his sons.
He was a sports enthusiast and a sponsor and coach for several area teams. He was especially active with the Waltham Little Nippers and the Waltham Babe Ruth baseball leagues. Guy enjoyed meeting with his friends over coffee, discussing as they would the latest goings on in sports, politics and family. He was also a life member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge No. 1018 in Waltham and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Lodge No. 953, Waltham, Waltham Sons of Italy Dante Alighieri Lodge #648
Guy and his wife, Mary (Arena) Vallerand celebrated 55 years of marriage on Saturday, the 29th of September.
In addition to his wife he leaves his children, Thomas B. Vallerand and his wife, Carmela, Gary P. Vallerand and his wife, Donna, all of Waltham, Mark A. Vallerand and his wife, Diane, of Woburn and Vicki A. Rossillo and her husband, Steve, of Ashland; his grandchildren Derek Vallerand, Melissa Osborne, Jennifer Pettit, Andrea LaChance, Amy, Korina, Lexi and Christian Vallerand and Alyssa, Victoria and Allison Rossillo; his great-grandchild and step-great-grandchild, Kaleb Osborne and Haley LaChance; his brothers and sisters, Ivan Vallerand of Burlington, Michael Vallerand of Waltham, Lillian Enman of Florida, Paulette Fettie of Framingham and Monica Vallerand of California and many nieces and nephews.
Guy was also a brother of the late Robert Vallerand.
Family and friends will honor and remember Guy's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, October 3rd, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
