Harold Glenn MacGregor

April 14, 1929 — February 2, 2014

Waltham - Mr. Harold Glenn MacGregor of Waltham, Massachusetts, aged 84, died Sunday, February 2, 2014 in Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston. Glenn, also called Harold by some, was born in Quincy on April 14, 1929, the only child of Charles "Harold" MacGregor and Ethel Mosher (Langille) MacGregor. His father was born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, and his mother was born in Mapleton, Nova Scotia. Glenn spent his childhood in Monroe, Maine and Belmont, Massachusetts. The family moved from Belmont to Waltham in 1954, where he resided for the next sixty years.

Glenn was a graduate of Belmont High School and the former Bryant and Stratton Business College in Boston, Massachusetts. He served in Korea in the U. S. Army in the early 1950s and was a decorated combat veteran. He retired from Grossman's Lumber Company in Quincy, Massachusetts, after working there for many years. Glenn loved his Scottish heritage, and he was a long-time member of the Waltham Elks Club. He found great pleasure playing shuffleboard with his many friends at the Elks. He was cherished by his close friends, wonderful neighbors, and the author of this article, his first cousin, Rosamond "Jean" (MacGregor) Simon of Huntsville, Alabama. We were both only children. Glenn was a man of integrity and was an extraordinarily considerate person, with a keen sense of humor. He was an enthusiastic sports fan, and he followed the Boston professional teams' progress daily.

His loving survivors include myself, Rosamond "Jean" (MacGregor) Simon and husband, Jack Edward Simon, of Huntsville, Alabama, our three sons, their wives, and their children, Frank Stewart Simon and wife, Dena Rene (Gordon) Simon, their two little daughters, Alexandra "Lexie" Ann Simon and Sullivan "Livie" Elizabeth Simon, all of Huntsville, Donald Standish Simon and wife, Amy Elizabeth (Storey) Simon, and their sixteen month old twin sons, Jackson Clark Simon and Finnlay MacGregor Simon, all of Sandy Springs, Atlanta, Georgia, and Douglas Simon and wife, Tara (Gill) Simon. Additional survivors are Glenn's very, very loving family friends, Audrey E. Temple and husband, Russell Temple, of Townsend, Massachusetts, and their adult children, Ronald Biggins, William Biggins, Barbara Constantino and husband, Joe, and Kimberly Hermanson and husband, Ernie.
