Harris Childs

Mr. Harris L. Childs, of Waltham, died unexpectedly at home on Thursday, April 14, 2016. He was 76.

Harris was born June 14, 1939 in Waltham a son of the late Arthur and Eleanor Childs. Raised and educated in Waltham he was a graduate of Waltham High School with the class of 1957. He married Georgianna 'Georgi' Druzba on August 10, 1963 in the Unitarian Universalist Church.

His career in banking began at Federal Savings Bank and continued with Guarantee Bank & Trust, Coolidge Bank & Trust and lastly with Direct Federal Credit Union where he was manager of operations. He retired in 1994.

Harris enjoyed hockey, being at home with his family and his dogs, especially his most loved Charley.

He is predeceased by his only sibling, Suellen G. Childs.

In addition to his wife of 52 years, Georgi he leaves their sons, Jonathan W. Childs and his wife, Anne of Sudbury and Christopher G. Childs and his wife, Jee of Westchester, Pennsylvania; his grandsons, Andrew, Matthew, Ethan and Nolan; his sisters-in-law, Shirley Drenzek of Suffield, Connecticut, Jeanine Baumstauk and her husband, Rennie of Saginaw, Michigan and Edie Creter and her husband, Philip of St. Petersburg, Florida; also survived by many nieces & nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Harris's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Monday, April 18th from 5 to 8 p.m. and again on Tuesday morning where his Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will be private.
