Waltham – Mrs. Hazel F. (Saulnier) Grimes, of Waltham, died Monday, May 26, 2008 at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge. She was 70. Hazel was born on September 24, 1937 in Belmont, a daughter of the late Leger and Irene (Comeau) Saulnier, and had been a lifelong resident of Waltham. Until her retirement last September she worked as a secretary for the City of Waltham Wires Department. She had co-chaired the Waltham City of Choice Committee and been active in local politics. Hazel was also a past president of the Buddy Warner Ski Team and had been a den leader for the Cub Scouts and the Boy Scouts. She was also active with the North Waltham Little League. The wife of the late William P. Grimes, she leaves her children, Derek P. Grimes and his wife, Betsy, of Watertown, Daryl J. Grimes and his wife, Debbie, of Waltham and Douglas J. Grimes and his wife, Marjorie, of Scituate; her grandchildren, Amanda, Kelly, Connor, Brittany, Kimberly Grimes; her sisters and brothers, Doris Young, Mary Gardiner, Richard and Robert Saulnier, all of Waltham and many nieces and nephews. She was also a sister of the late Theresa Palmer, Harold Saulnier and Donald Saulnier. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral at 12 Noon Friday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 51 Hall Street, Waltham at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
