Waltham - Mrs. Helen F. (Dalton) Corbett, of Waltham, died Sunday, November 20, 2011 in Saint Elizabeth's Hospital in Brighton. She was 93.
Helen was born on August 20, 1918 in St. Elizabeth's Hospital, the only child of the late Patrick and Jennie (Hayes) Dalton. A lifelong Waltham resident she was a graduate of the former St. Mary's High School.
She worked as a clerk at the former First National Store for many years. She later volunteered for over 10 years at the reception desk at The Espousal Retreat Center in Waltham before retiring in 2009. Helen was a member of Saint Mary's Church and was a voracious reader. She and her family summered at their home in West Hyannisport.
Her husband, John W. Corbett died January 21, 1994 and she was also predeceased by her son, Paul B. Corbett.
Helen leaves her children, John P. Corbett and his wife, Connie, James M. Corbett and his wife, Sharon, all of Waltham, Stephen W. Corbett and his wife, Ozana, of Amherst, New Hampshire and Jane H. Norton and her husband, James, of Marlborough; her grandchildren, Michael Corbett, Jennifer Diaz and her husband, Jimmy, Kristin and Kim Corbett-McCoubrey, Kathleen Corbett and her partner, Curtis Esmel, Sam Corbett, Jamie Strawbridge and her husband, Paul, Jessica Norton, James Norton, Daniel, Matthew and Christopher Peltier; 6 great-grandchildren and nieces & nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Helen's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Sunday, November 27th from 2 to 5 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Monday morning before leaving in procession to the Chapel of the Espousal Retreat Center, 554 Lexington Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
