Waltham - Mrs. Helen M. (Nedza) Franks, of Waltham, died Thursday, July 17, 2014 in the Epoch Senior Healthcare Center of Weston. She was 88.
Helen was born in Winthrop, Maine, on December 22, 1925, a daughter of the late Albert and Mary (Krause) Nedza. She lived for most of her life in Waltham and was a graduate of Saint Mary's High School.
Helen was widowed at a young age and worked hard to make sure her daughters had anything they might need. She began her career at the Waltham Watch Factory as a secretary and retired from Ames Department store on River Street in 2002. She truly loved her job at Ames where she had wonderful co-workers and enjoyed dealing with the public.
She was the wife of the late Robert Franks and is survived by her daughters, Nancy Sullivan and her husband, James, of Waltham and Roberta Franks of Chicago, Illinois and leaves many nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Stanley Nedza, Joseph Nedza, Walter Nedza, John Nedza, and Veronica Perilli.
