Waltham – Mrs. Helen J. (McCusker) LaHaise, of Waltham, died Tuesday, September 4, 2018 in Arnold House in Stoneham. She was 92.
Helen was born on March 3, 1926 in Newton, a daughter of the late Hugh and Agnes (Mayhew) McCusker. A graduate of Waltham High School she later married Jamaica Plain native C. Arthur LaHaise, Jr. in 1948 in Saint Charles Borromeo Church. Arthur died on August 31, 2010.
Until her retirement Helen worked for years at Waltham Saving Bank which later became Sterling Bank where she was well known for her expertise in the life insurance and mortgage departments.
Helen was a member of the Women's group of the Waltham/Watertown Lodge of Elks #953 and served as a Eucharistic minister at Saint Mary's Church.
In addition to her husband of 62 years, Arthur she was predeceased by her siblings, Margaret Weagle, Richard and Peter McCusker, Mary Anne Barry and Kathleen Burrie.
Helen leaves her children, Peter A. LaHaise (Mary Anne) of Chelmsford, Stephen P. LaHaise (Rosemary) of Waltham and David L. LaHaise (Linda) of Vero Beach, Florida; her grandchildren Kristen, Courtney, David, Nicole, Eric, Stephanie, Jessica, Kevin, Brian, Natalie and Jesse; her sister, Joan Walsh of Dartmouth; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Helen's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, September 6th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
