Westborough - Mrs. Helen G. (Gipe) Loughry of Westborough, formerly of Melrose, died Thursday, April 21, 2011 at Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Westborough. She was 94.

Helen was born in Newport, Pennsylvania on May 1, 1916, a daughter of the late John Harrison and Mary Ellen (George) Gipe. She graduated from the Jefferson School of Nursing and was a registered nurse for many years at The Lahey Clinic in Boston. She raised her family in Melrose where she was a resident from 1952 until 2002.

She was the wife of the late Daniel F. Loughry.

She leaves her sons Daniel F. Loughry and his wife, Lois, of Henderson, Nevada, Kevin G. Loughry and his wife, Judy, of Sudbury, and Justin T. Loughry and his wife, Leah McGarry Morris, of Haddonfield, New Jesey; her grandchildren Kristin, Kevin, and Nora Loughry; her step-grandchildren Benjamin and Lindsay McGarry Morris and also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Helen’s life by gathering at Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 46 Myrtle Street, Melrose on Saturday May 7th, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in Saint Patrick’s Cemetery, Watertown.

Memorial donations may be made in memory of Helen Gipe Loughry to the Nursing Scholarship Fund at Thomas Jefferson University, Jefferson Foundation, 925 Chestnut Street, Suite 110, Philadelphia, PA 19107.
