Mrs. Helen E. (Romaniak) (Szpak) Peltier died on Saturday, January 27, 2018 in Saint Patrick's Manor, Framingham. She was 97.
Helen was born in New Bedford on November 29, 1920, the daughter of the late Dyonizy and Mary (Wojtowicz) Romaniak.
Before her retirement she worked as a senior clerk at the Raytheon Employees Credit Union and R.T.N. She was a devout Catholic and had been a member of Sacred Heart Church in Waltham.
She was the wife of the late Walter Szpak who died in 1950 and Donald Peltier who died in 1986. She is survived by her son, Michael P. Szpak and his wife, Carol Colbeth, of Silver Spring, Maryland; her grandchildren, Benjamin Szpak and his wife, Susan Vallerand, of Waltham and Leah Szpak of Silver Spring, Maryland.
She was also a sister of the late Chester Romaniak, Adolph Romaniak, Longin Romaniak, Wanda Romaniak and Alice LaFountain.
Family and friends will honor and remember Helen's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, February 2, 2018 from 5 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Adams.
