Waltham – Mrs. Helen M. (Hubbard) Sinclair, of Waltham, died Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at Lahey Clinic in Burlington. She was 99. Helen was born in Boston on January 15, 1910, the second oldest of five children born to the late John and Ellen (Cullinane) Hubbard, both natives of Ireland. She was a graduate of Boston Girls High School in 1928 and went to work as a secretary for John Hancock Life Insurance Company and for the J.D. Horgan Detective Agency. She had been a Waltham resident since 1958. Helen will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a strong and independent woman, living at home until her recent illness. Helen enjoyed watching the Red Sox and the challenge of a difficult crossword puzzle. The wife of the late Thomas Sinclair, she leaves her son, Thomas E. Sinclair and his wife, Gail, of Salem, New Hampshire; her daughter-in-law, Martha Sinclair of Taylors, South Carolina; her grandchildren, Barbara Shea and her husband, Dennis, of Hudson, Adam Sinclair of Marlboro, Karen Harrison and her husband, Michael, of Safety Harbor, Florida and Lindsay Sinclair of Providence, Rhode Island; her great-grandchildren, Ryan Harrison and Logan Sinclair; her sister, Elizabeth Matchett of Marblehead and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late James A. Sinclair and a sister of the late John and Edward Hubbard and Catherine DeLoffi. Family and friends will honor and remember Helen's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and again at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge.
