Helen VonDohlen

Mrs. Helen ( McLaurin ) VonDohlen of Waltham died Wednesday, September 14, 2005 in the Newton Wellesley Hospital. She was 86. Born in Waterbury, CT, Mrs. VonDohlen was raised in Somerville and moved to Waltham in 1950. She graduated Somerville High School in 1937. Mrs. VonDohlen also was a graduate of Bryant & Stratton Business School. She worked as a bookkeeper for Bay State Florist Supply for over thirty years. Mrs. VonDohlen was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church and a former member of the Immanuel Methodist Church . She was also a member of the Waltham Musical Club. Mrs. VonDohlen enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was the wife of the late Robert F. VonDohlen, the daughter of the late Archibald and Ruth (Ladner) McLaurin, and the sister of the late Archibald McLaurin and Luella Tuthill. Mrs. VonDohlen is survived by her children, Ruth T. Slayden and her husband, Skip, of Pinehurst NC, Robert F. VonDohlen and his wife, Judi, of Wayland, Stephen D. VonDohlen and his wife, Geralyn, and Janet R. Furnari and her husband, Michael, all of Waltham; her stepson, Richard D. VonDohlen of Hickory, NC; and her grandchildren, Robbie and Krista VonDohlen, Sheryl, Carol, and Christine Furnari. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 10 am in the Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, (Rte. 20), Waltham. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 5-8 pm.
