Framingham – Sister Helena M. Boudreau, R.C.E., of Framingham died Monday, March 23, 2015 at Saint Patrick's Manor, Framingham. She was 91.
Sister Helena was born in Waltham on March 1, 1924, a daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Aucoin) Boudreau. She was raised in Waltham and was a graduate of Waltham High School.
She entered the Religious of Christian Education community on September 8, 1942 and attended Saint Genevieve of the Pines in Asheville where she earned an associate's degree. Sister Helena later earned her bachelor's degree in history from Regis College in Weston. A lifelong learner, she also achieved two master's degrees, first in early education from Boston College in Chestnut Hill and after that in religious education from Fairfield University in Connecticut.
Her final profession came on August 15, 1949 at Jeanne d'Arc Academy in Milton. She taught at Jeanne d'Arc Academy, Marycliff Academy in Winchester, Saint Genevieve of the Pines School and Saint Joan of Arc School, both in Asheville, North Carolina and Saint James School in Arlington.
She also served her community as provincial for many years and like most women religious, who hand over their lives in service of Christ and his Church, never retired from her ministry of attending to the needs of others.
Sister Helena leaves her sister, Rita Close of Framingham; her confrères in the Religious of Christian Education community and many nieces and nephews.
She was also a sister of the late Mary Rose McDermott, Jeannette Everett, and Joseph Boudreau.
Family and friends will honor and remember Sister Helena's life by gathering for calling hours in the Holy Family Chapel at Saint Patrick's Manor, 863 Central Street, Framingham on Sunday, March 29th, from 2 to 6 p.m. and again on Monday morning when her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Saint Patrick's Cemetery, Watertown.
