Shirley – Mr. Henri J. LaFreniere, Jr., of Shirley, died Sunday, March 29, 2009 at his home. He was 56. Henri was born in Waltham on November 20, 1952, a son of the late Henri J. 'Camille' and Dorothea J. (Stever) LaFreniere. He had lived in Waltham and in Maynard before moving to Shirley four years ago. Until his retirement he worked for thirty years as a driver for Central Square Taxi in Waltham where friends and customers knew him as 'Hank'. Henri was a volunteer at the 'Open Table' in Concord and he was a longtime member of the 'Sharks' of the Minuteman Dart League. He leaves his daughter, Alyson Welker and her husband, Jeremy, of Indianapolis, Indiana; his sisters, Theresa M. Lafreniere and her fiancé, Louis Flores, of Cambridge, Barbara L. Amaral and her husband, Joseph, of Somerville and Madeline T. Tufts of Waltham; his longtime companion, Carol Horan of Shirley and several nieces and nephews. Henri was also a brother of the late Dorothy C. Gosselin. Family and friends will honor and remember Henri's life by gathering for calling hours at The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Burial will be private.
