Mr. Henry G. Goguen, of Waltham, died on Friday, April 20, 2018 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital after a short illness. He was 94.
Born on September 30, 1923 in Cocagne, New Brunswick, Canada he was a son of the late Levi and Priscilla (Cormier) Goguen. He married Marie S. Boudreau on October 8, 1956 in Saint Anna's Church and later that same year they immigrated to the United States settling in Waltham. After an eight year struggle with Alzheimer's disease Marie died July 18, 2010.
As a self-employed painter he owned and operated Henry G. Goguen Co. for over twenty years before working in the same profession with Local #35 Painters Union for over ten years before enjoying retirement in 1991.
Henry and Marie would look forward to their many trips 'home' to Canada to visit with many family and friends. He had a talent and passion for gardening and was a New England sports enthusiast and enjoyed salt water fishing.
He leaves his children, Gisele Domurat and her husband, Frank, of Richmond, Virginia, Denis Goguen and his wife, Rose Marie, of Waltham, Michael Goguen and his wife, Cindy, of Northborough and Robert Goguen and his wife, Valerie of Waltham; his grandchildren, Justin and Nathan (Katie) Domurat, Monique, Erik, Leigh-Ann, Lucas and Brooke Goguen; his siblings, Lionel Goguen (Dorine) of Cocagne, N.B., Canada, Phillippe Goguen (Marie) of Gardner, Louise Cormier of Waltham, Carmeline Bourque, Aline Bourque (Ulysse), all of Cocagne, N.B.,Canada; his sisters-in-law, Claira Goguen of Grand Dique, N.B., Canada and Florence Goguen of Fitchburg; also survived by many nieces & nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers, Yvon and Aurele Goguen and brothers-in-law Leo Cormier and Aquila Bourque.
Family and friends will honor and remember Henry's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, April 26th from 4 – 8 p.m. and again at 10 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
