Waltham - Rev. Henry Julius Linse, C.S.S. of the Stigmatine Fathers in Waltham, died on Friday, January 16, 2015 in Marian Manor Nursing Facility in South Boston. He was 95.
He was born on September 15, 1919 in Boston a son of German immigrants, the late Francis X. and Hirlanda (Hergenhan) Linse.
Fr. Linse entered the Stigmatine Fathers in September 1938. His First Profession as a Stigmatine was on September 9, 1940 and his Final Profession of Vows on September 9, 1943. He was ordained the Holy Priesthood on June 12, 1948 at Saint Paul's Church, Wellesley by Bishop (later Cardinal) John Wright.
During his years of priestly ministry, Fr. Linse served his priesthood in many parishes: as Chaplain at Shirley and Concord State Prisons, Director of the Novitiate, Waterville, New York, Teacher in Guam, and as a parochial vicar at Mt. Carmel Parish, Springfield, Mt. Carmel Parish, Pittsfield, Mt. Carmel Parish, White Plains, NY, All Saints Parish, Manassas, Virginia, Our Lady of the Angels Parish, Woodbridge, VA and as Pastor of St. Francis Parish, Lynn, MA. He also served as a lend-lease priest at St. Joseph Parish, Lewiston, Maine and St. Mary's Parish, Biddeford, Maine.
Family and friends will honor and remember Fr. Linse's life by gathering to visit on Wednesday, January 21st at 9 am in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 5 East Main Street, Milford where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery, Milford
The Stigmatine Fathers are very grateful for the wonderful care Fr. Linse received at Marian Manor in South Boston and the Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm and all the staff at this facility.
