Concord – Mr. Henry J. 'Knuckles' O'Dette of Concord, formerly of Waltham, died Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at Walden Nursing & Rehab Center in Concord. He was 73. His wife, Cecile (Ryan) O'Dette died in 1972 and he is also predeceased by his sisters, Elaine Tyler and Lorraine O'Dette. Born in Waltham, a son of the late Alfred and Bertha (Bennett) O'Dette he had been a longtime Waltham resident before moving to Concord 11 yrs ago. Henry was a graduate of Waltham High School. He served with the United States Army. Henry worked as a machinist for over 20 years for the former J.L. Thomson Co. in Waltham. Henry was a longtime and much loved resident at Walden Nursing & Rehab Center in Concord where he was familiar face. He was known for operating 'the candy cart' for many years. His family extends sincere thanks to the staff and residents for taking such good care of Henry for the last 11 years. He leaves two daughters, Deborah Namias and her husband, Charlie, of Boxborough and Diane Cohen and her husband, Ed, of Bedford; two brothers, Alfred O'Dette and his wife, Pat, of Waltham and David O'Dette and his wife, Linda, of Watertown. He was a much loved 'Grampy' to Jennifer and Jeff Namias, Amanda, Eddie, Ryan and Ashley Cohen. In addition he leaves two aunts, Rita Babcock of Watertown and Agnes Leone of Nashua, New Hampshire and nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Henry's Funeral Service at 11:30 a.m. Friday in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rt. 20), Waltham. Burial will be in Newton Cemetery. Visiting hours are Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations in Henry's name may be made to the Walden Nursing & Rehab Center, Resident Activity Fund, 785 Main Street, Concord, MA 01742.
