Waltham – Mrs. Hildegard M. (Rogalla) MacLean, of Waltham, died at home on Monday, July 1, 2018. She was 96.
She was born October 2, 1921 in Butzbach, Germany a daughter of the late August and Erna (Harmel) Rogalla and immigrated to the United States in 1954 and lived in Waltham over 50 years.
Hildegard worked as an optician for Optics in Waltham and later in research for Raytheon Corporation in Waltham and Lexington before retiring.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Waltham, the Optic Society of America and the Schulverein German Club in Walpole.
She leaves her son, Wayne A. MacLean of Waltham; her daughter, Karen H. MacLean of Shirley; her grandchildren, Rev. Mark MacLean and Kim George; her sister, Gisela Kammer in Germany and the late Willie Rogalla and Inge Bender; also survived by many great-grandchildren; nieces & nephews. She was the longtime companion of the late Charles Sevoyan.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Hildegard's life by gathering in Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rt. 20) on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 where her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
