Waltham – Mrs. Ida (Cormier) Maurice, of Waltham, died on Monday, September 19, 2016 in Massachusetts General Hospital. She was 77.
Ida was born in St. Paul, New Brunswick, on April 15, 1939, the daughter of the late Aurele and May (LeBlanc) Cormier. She married Noel Maurice in 1963 and they settled in Waltham where they would raise their family.
Before her retirement she worked at Tufts Health in Watertown for more than 20 years. She was an active parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Waltham and before that at the former St. Joseph's Church. In her retirement she enjoyed volunteering at The Stanley Senior Center but most important to her was spending time with her family. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy.
Beside her husband, Noel, she is survived by her children, Michelle Corbett and her husband, Matt, of Maynard, Armand Maurice of Waltham, and Nicole Stone and her husband, Jeff, of Safety Harbor, Florida; she was the loving Memere of Matthew Corbett, Mikaela Corbett and Hayden Stone and sister of Claudette LeBlanc of Gardner. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Ida's life by gathering for calling hours on Friday, September 23rd, from 4-8 pm in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, (Rte. 20), Waltham and again on Saturday at 9 am before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am. Burial will be private.
