Mrs. Irene A. (Desrochers) Bryant of Brewster, formerly of Watertown, died Thursday, July 15, 2010, in the Epoch Nursing Home in Brewster. She was 86. Irene was born in Newton on May 11, 1924, a daughter of the late Robert and Albertina (Gingrass) Desrochers. She was a graduate of Newton High School and had lived in Watertown from 1947 until 2005 when she moved to Brewster.
Irene was a former parishioner of Saint John the Evangelist Church and Our Lady Help of Christians Church both in Newton.
She was the wife of the late Arthur J. Bryant, the mother of the late Diane St. Pierre and Eileen Bryant, and the sister of the late Lewis Desrochers, Rita Blakeney, and Norman Desrochers.
Irene is survived by her children, Stephen Bryant and his wife, Virginia, of Brewster, Arthur Bryant and his wife, Lisa, of Waltham, and David Bryant and his wife, Laurand, of Framingham; her grandchildren, Susan, Robert, Laura, Spencer, Coleen, Stephen, and Lynn. Great Grandmother of August, Tyler, Kyle, Brody, and Kiley; her brother, Robert Desrochers of Florida; her sister, Alice Doyle of Chatham, and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Irene’s life by gathering for calling hours at The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, (Rte. 20), Waltham on Monday from 4-8 pm and again at 9:30 am on Tuesday before leaving in procession to Our Lady Help of Christians Church, 573 Washington Street, Newton, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
