Waltham Mrs. Irene F. ( Maher ) Driscoll of Waltham died Monday, September 15, 2003 in Maristhill Nursing Home, Waltham. She was 92. Born in Charlestown, Mrs. Driscoll had lived in Waltham for many years. She was the secretary for the commissioner for the Public Welfare Department in Boston until her retirement. Mrs. Driscoll was the wife of the late William F. Driscoll and is survived by her daughters, Margaret J. Riley of Waltham and Mary Ann Cantino of Coventry RI; her grandchildren, Christopher T. Riley and his wife, Mary Jane Dyer, of Hopkinton; Debbie Fernandes and her husband, Paul of Coventry RI, Tracey Pontarelli and her husband Ken, of New York City, Erin K. Riley of Waltham, Matthew T. Riley both of Waltham, and Marc P. Cantino of Coventry RI; her great grandchildren, Nathan and Grace Fernandes and Charlotte and Brody Pontarelli; and many nieces and nephews. The Funeral will be held Thursday at 9 a.m. from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Cambridge Cemetery. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.
