Framingham – Sr. Irene M. Haché, R.C.E., of Framingham formerly of Waltham, died on Thursday, November 3rd 2016 in St. Patrick's Manor, Framingham. She was 98.
Sr. Irene was born and raised in Waltham where she attended St. Pierre's Elementary School and St. Mary's High School and later earned her B.A. from Emmanuel College and her M.A. from Boston College. She loved the study of sciences and earned her Certificate in Advanced Physics from Boston College.
She entered into the Religious of Christian Education order in June of 1936 and took her final vows in August of 1943. Throughout her career, of over fifty years, she educated, from Marycliff Academy in Winchester, Jeanne d'Arc Academy in Milton, Newton Country Day School of the Sacred Heart to Dahomey, West Africa where she established a Science Department in 1964. Sr. Irene was a kind and compassionate woman who had a gift to help others all with a smile on her face.
She was the daughter of the late Alphe and Alvina (Boudreau) Hache and sister of the late Raymond, Gerald and Sr. Yvonne Haché, R.C.E. and Therese Casey and is survived by her confrères in the Religious of Christian Education community and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Sr. Irene's life by gathering to visit at 9 a.m. on Monday November 7th in Saint Patrick's Manor Chapel, Framingham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Saint Patrick's Cemetery, Watertown.
