Irene V. Martin

Waltham – Miss Irene V. Martin, of Waltham, died Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Meadow Green Nursing Home in Waltham. She was 94.

Irene was born in Waltham on June 17, 1921, a daughter of the late Thomas and Delia (Egan) Martin, and was a lifelong resident.

Until her retirement she worked as an inspector at the J.L. Thomson Company in Waltham. Before that Irene had worked for a number of years at Hathaway's Bakery in Waltham.

She leaves her brother and sisters, Thomas J. Martin, Jr., Mildred Bertolami, both of Waltham, Edith Penzone of Lancaster and Frances Buteau of Mashpee and many nieces and nephews.

Irene was also a sister of the late John Martin, Frederick Martin, Mary Maher and Florence Martin.

Family and friends will honor and remember Irene's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Monday, May 9th from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
