Maynard – Mrs. Irene C. (Joyal) Murray, of Maynard, formerly of Waltham, died Friday, September 30, 2022 at her home. She was 95.
Irene was born in Waltham on November 22, 1926, a daughter of the late Alde and Vizina (LeBlanc) Joyal. A graduate of Waltham High School with the class of 1943, she had been a lifelong resident of Waltham before moving to Maynard ten years ago.
She and her husband David had been faithful communicants of Our Lady's Church on Trapelo Road where they were active members of the parish community. Irene was also an avid sewer and enjoyed making quilts and knitted goods for family and friends alike.
In addition to her husband, the late David J. Murray, she is reunited in Heaven with her brothers and sisters, the late Edmond, Henry and Eugene Joyal, Eleanor Gorgone, Claire Knous and Phyllis Deveaux.
Irene leaves her children, David A. Murray (Anne) of Southport, Maine, Nancy J. Murray of Brookfield, Vermont, Ronald J. Murray of Aurora, Colorado, Karen M. Dumond (Mark) of Maynard, Robert P. Murray of Bolton and Beth A. Gagnon (Mark Harnett) of Stow; her brother, Richard Joyal of Plymouth; thirteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Irene's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, October 5th from 4 to 7 p.m. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday morning in Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
