Marlborough - Mrs. Irene S. 'Sally' (Petrovich) Sylvester, of Marlborough, died Thursday, January 3, 2013 in her home from complications of gallbladder cancer. She was 79.
Sally was born in Waltham on February 21, 1933, the loving daughter of the late Peter and Victoria (Dudek) Petrovich. She graduated from Waltham High School in 1952 and married the late Alan C. Sylvester in 1954. She worked at Marlborough Hospital for twenty-nine years, both as telephone operator and for many years in the billing department, retiring in 1998. After surviving breast cancer, she returned to work part-time as a telephone operator for Rooter Man in Ashland.
She is survived by her beloved sons, Peter H. Sylvester and Michael A. Sylvester both of Marlborough; her grandchildren, Peter and Victoria Sylvester; and her sisters, Patricia Klofft of Hudson and Joan Dwyer of Waltham.
Sally was the wife of the late Alan C. Sylvester and the sister of the late Edward Pruitt, Helena Hartley and Wendy Tarver.
Family and friends will honor and remember Sally's life by gathering at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 9th, in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham, where her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
