Waltham – Mrs. Isabelle J. (Fitzmaurice) Yankauskis, of Waltham, died Thursday, June 30, 2011 in her home. She was 94.
Isabelle was born in Cambridge on August 7, 1916, a daughter of the late John F. and Margaret (O’Neill) Fitzmaurice. She was a lifelong Waltham resident where she attended Saint Mary’s High School. She was a founding member of Saint Jude’s Church in Waltham and was a member of the Ladies Sodality. Isabelle loved to sew and sewed baptismal garments for Saint Jude’s Church for many years.
The wife of the late Peter P. Yankauskis, she leaves her daughters, Sr. Joanne Yankauskis, O.S.B. of Piedmont, Oklahoma and Karen M. Sorbera and her husband, John, Ret. MSP, of Waltham; her grandson, Philip J. Sorbera; her brother, Arthur Fitzmaurice of Waltham; her sister, Sister Therese Julie Fitzmaurice, S.N.D. of Beverly; one niece and four nephews.
Isabelle was also a sister of the late Francis Fitzmaurice, Margaret Dougherty and Mary Fitzmaurice.
Family and friends will honor and remember Isabelle’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, Waltham on Wednesday, July 6th, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
