Jack D. Sears

Waltham – Mr. Jack D. Sears, Jr., of Waltham, died Thursday, May 3, 2018 at his home. He was 46.

Jack was born in Newton on November 2, 1971, a son of Jack D. Sears and Patricia E. (Flanagan) Sears, and was a graduate of Newton North High School. Jack lived most of his life in Waltham and moved back to the city after having been a South Boston resident for ten years.

A man of many talents and interests Jack was a self-employed contractor and was an expert in copper roof installations. Familiar with all the trades he trained as a carpenter and became a master craftsman. In his youth Jack was a model for the Ford Modeling Agency.

His passion however was for the sea. Jack loved to sail and once navigated a trip into the Caribbean Sea and back. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and always had a special affection for his dogs who were constant companions over the years.

In addition to his parents he leaves his sisters and brothers, Lisa Sears of Wesley Chapel, Florida, Paul Sears and his wife, Silvana, of Sharon, Douglas Sears and his wife, Gisele, of Natick, Kelley McDonald and her husband, Jeffrey, of Waltham and Marie Giunta and her husband, Christopher, of Sudbury, his longtime love and best friend, Caren Stone, of Boston and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and friends will honor and remember Jack's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday, May 8th from 5 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to The Blessed Sacrament Chapel of Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 51 Hall Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
