Waltham – Mr. James P. Bennett, of Waltham, died Monday, August 22, 2016 in Massachusetts General Hospital following a period of declining health. He was 51.
Jim was born in Waltham on January 18, 1965, a son of Madeline (Collura) Bennett of Waltham and the late Charles Bennett, and was a lifelong resident.
He graduated from Waltham Vocational High School and began working at Suburban School Transportation and later at Stadium Auto Body. He had most recently worked for the City of Waltham in the Water Department.
Jim married Tammy J. O'Brien on May 20, 1995. He will long be remembered for his genuine sense of humor. He loved camping with his family in New Hampshire and in Rochester and found great peace fishing in local lakes, ponds and streams.
In addition to his wife, Tammy, and his mother, Madeline, he leaves his children, Nicholas J. Bennett-Despres of Framingham and Vanessa M. Bennett of Waltham; his siblings, Stephen Bennett of Waltham, Charles Bennett, Jr. of Florida and Victoria Casella of Waltham and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Jim's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, August 26th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday morning before leaving in procession to St. Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Mt. Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
