Rock Hill, SC – Mr. James J. Corkery, III, of Rock Hill, South Carolina, died Thursday, July 14, 2011 at his home. He was 63.
Jim was born in Cambridge on June 23, 1948, a son of the late James J., Jr. and Marie S. (Kaucikas) Corkery and had been a resident of Waltham and Somerville before moving to Rock Hill several years ago. During the Vietnam War he served with the United States Army.
Until his retirement he worked as a computer technician for the United States Postal Service in Boston and in South Carolina. Jim was also the proprietor of Fairview Farms JJC, a horse farm, in Brimfield, Massachusetts. In retirement he enjoyed the fair weather of the Carolinas and frequent rounds of golf. A good book, music and his hat were his constant companions.
He leaves his daughters, Krystine A. O’Connor of Sturbridge and Patience L. Woods of Worcester; his grandchildren, Aliya Corkery and Ross O’Connor; his sisters, Virginia M. Gentile of Ashland and Linda T. McCabe of Sudbury and his nieces and nephews, Lisa M. Gentile “Queenie” of Framingham, Lawrence J. Gentile, Jr. of Bellingham, Kevin J. McCabe, Jr. of Framingham, Jami M. Proctor of Fitchburg, Stacey L. Bower of Franklin and Nicholas D. McCabe of Sudbury.
Family and friends will honor and remember Jim’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, July 20th, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be private.
