Sudbury - Mr. James R. Fitzgerald Jr., of Sudbury, died Saturday, December 10, 2011 in Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston. He was 67.
Born in Cambridge on November 25, 1944 he was a son of James R. Fitzgerald and the late Katherine P. (Hickey) Fitzgerald. Raised in Waltham he was a graduate of Waltham High School. He then earned a bachelor's degree in economics from Northeastern University and later his M.B.A from Northeastern. Jim served in the United States Army from 1970 to 1972 achieving the rank of 1st lieutenant. On November 15, 1970 he married Janet J. Sienczyk in St. Stanislaus Church in Chelsea and they moved to Sudbury in 1973.
Jim's professional career began at Price Waterhouse in Boston. He later worked for Chief Financial Office various companies in the greater Boston area in the same capacity in the biotech and biomedical fields. For the past two years, he worked as a consultant.
His interests varied. In earlier years Jim loved to sail and in his later years took up golf and played many a round at Nashawtuc Country Club in Concord where he and his wife belong. Jim and Janet enjoyed two islands, Martha's Vineyard and Manhattan and all there was to offer. They enjoyed annual outings at Fenway Park for a Red Sox game, a Broadway show, theater or a performance at the Boston Symphony Orchestra and dinner at a fine restaurant.
In addition to his wife, Janet, he leaves his father, James R. Fitzgerald, Sr., of Melbourne, Florida; his brothers, Robert M. Fitzgerald and his wife, Cheryl, of Waltham and Neil D. Fitzgerald and his wife, Darlene, of Brooklyn, New York; his nephew, Robert M. Fitzgerald and his wife, Sandra; his niece, Robyn Fitzgerald Reddick and her husband, Bryant; 2 great-nieces and 3 great-nephews; his mother-in-law, Helen J. (Orluk) Sienczyk and a host of friends and business associates.
Family and friends will honor and remember Jim's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Sunday, December 18th, from 2 to 4 p.m. and again at 9:30 a.m. on Monday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady of Fatima Church, 160 Concord Road, Sudbury, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be private.
