Mr. James Lyons, of Waltham, formerly of Brighton and a native of Cloonoo, Loughrea, Co. Galway, Ireland died Monday, January 7, 2019 in Meadow Green Nursing Home. He was 80.
Jim was born February 21, 1938 in Ireland a son of the late Michael and Delia (Callanan) Lyons. Raised and educated in Ireland he immigrated to the United States in 1959 settling in Brighton where he lived many years before moving to Waltham over twenty five years ago. He served in the United States Army.
He worked in sales for local food distributors before retirement.
His wife of 50 years, Marie B. (Kelly) Lyons died June 9, 2015. In addition he was predeceased by his brothers, Patrick and Michael Lyons.
He leaves his children, Joseph A. Lyons (Teresa) of Bellingham, Kevin J. Lyons of Waltham and Robert F. Lyons (Julie) of West Roxbury; his grandchildren, Erin, Patrick, Sean, Kelly and Timothy Lyons; his brother, Sean Lyons (Vera) of Canton and sister-in-law, Kathleen Lyons of Loughrea, Galway, Ireland and many nieces, nephews and their families.
Family and friends will honor and remember Jim's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, January 10th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 10 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
