Waltham - Mr. James J. Mazzeo of Waltham died Wednesday, October 27, 2004 at his home. He was 78. Born in Waltham, a son of the late Salvatore and Frances (Lisano) Mazzeo, he was raised in Belmont where he lived before moving to Waltham 54 years ago. He was a 1944 graduate of Belmont High School. Until his retirement, Mr. Mazzeo worked for Puritan Dress Company and for Mast Industries. During World War II he served with the U.S. Army and also served for twenty years after the war with the U.S. Army Reserves. He belonged to the Waverly VFW Post No. 1272 in Belmont and also to the Holy Name Society at Sacred Heart Church in Waltham where he served as an usher for many years. He leaves his wife of 56 years, Mary R. (Lombardo) Mazzeo; his children, Gloria M. Chane, Joanne M. LeFort and her husband Thomas, all of Waltham and James J. Mazzeo, Jr. and his wife Jeanne of Westford; his grandchildren, Michael Chane and his wife Heather, Jennifer and Nicole Mazzeo and Matthew and Kevin LeFort; one great-grandchild, Aidan Chane; and his sister, Natalie Neff of Waltham. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral at 10:30 a.m. Saturday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, cor. of River and Newton Sts., Waltham at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
