Waltham – Mr. James P. Melanson, Sr. of Waltham, died Thursday, June 12, 2008 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 68. Born in Waltham, a son of the late Maxime J. and Mary E. (LeBlanc) Melanson, he was a lifelong resident. He served with the United States Navy and until his retirement had worked as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service for forty-two years. After that, he worked for Nova Biomedical in Waltham. Jim was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge 1018, in Waltham. Jim leaves his wife, Carol A. (Pictour) Melanson; his children, Mark J. Melanson of Palm Bay, Florida, David M. Melanson, Kenneth J. Melanson, Glen T. Melanson, all of Waltham and Denise M. Melanson of Watertown; one brother, Paul J. Melanson of Milford; his mother-in-law, Mary Pictour of Waltham, seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late James P. Melanson, Jr., brother of the late Anna Melanson and son-in-law of the late John Pictour. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral at 9 a.m. Thursday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 51 Hall Street, Waltham at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
