Needham Mr. James F. Stanton of Needham, formerly of Wayland and Waltham, died Tuesday, March 29, 2005 in the North Hill Skilled Facility in Needham. He was 84. Born in Waltham, Mr. Stanton had lived in Waltham and Wayland before moving to Needham. He was a business and civic leader and a partner in Coleman and Sons Real Estate and Insurance and its successor, Stanton Insurance Agency from 1945 to 1991. Mr. Stanton was an active supporter of Waltham Hospital and a contributor to several other Waltham charities. He was the Class President and graduate of Boston College, Class of 1942. Jim was recognized by the college as a devoted volunteer, an enthusiastic supporter, and loyal benefactor of Boston College. He received the William V. McKenney Award as outstanding Alumnus in 1963 and the Presidential BiCentennial Award 'Rahle Medal' in 1976. Jim was also a staunch supporter of the Boston College Athletic Association and a season ticket holder for Boston College hockey, basketball, and football. An avid golfer, Jim was a member of the Hatherly Country Club in Scituate, the Weston Golf Club, and the Wyndemere Club in Naples, Florida. Among his accomplishments were shooting 4 holes-in-one and scoring his age on many occasions. In addition to serving on the Board of Directors at Weston Golf Club, Jim was named by fellow members as Captain of the Northern Twi Team. Mr. Stanton served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Stanton was the father of the late Jayne E. Stanton, the son of the late Dr. Joseph and Mary (Sullivan) Stanton, and a brother of the late Rev. Edward Stanton, S.J., Richard Stanton, M.D., Joseph R. Stanton, M.D., John Stanton, Sr. Mary Elizabeth, O.C.D., Sister Mary Joseph, O.C.D., and Louise Stanton. He is survived by his beloved wife, Helen M. (Coleman) Stanton; his devoted children, James F. Stanton, Jr. and his wife, Patricia, of Framingham, Robert J. Stanton and his wife, Julie, of Waltham, Ned M. Stanton and his wife, Sheila, of Newton, and Anne S. Mikulski and her husband, Leonard, of Waltham; his brother, Vincent P. Stanton of Watertown; his sisters, Clare Nash of Weymouth and Sr. Anne of the Trinity, O.C.D., of Buffalo, New York; ten grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. The Funeral will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Trinity Chapel, located on the Law School Campus of Boston College, Centre Street, Newton. Burial will follow in Holyhood Cemetery in Chestnut Hill. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of James F.
