James E. Thompson

Mr. James E. Thompson of Marlborough, formerly of Brookline and Waltham, died Tuesday, July 21, 2009 in the Eliot Healthcare Center in Natick. Born in Farmington, Maine, on December 27, 1947, Jim was raised and educated in Brookline and had lived in Waltham before moving to Marlborough twenty one years ago. Son of Constance (Reed) Thompson of Jay, Maine and the late Edward Thompson, Jim was the owner of J.E. Thompson Transportation Company in Marlborough. Jim was a member of the Masons in Marlborough as well as the National Rifle Association. He was a Vietnam veteran who served in the U.S. Navy. Jim is survived by his longtime companion of Carol Clark of Marlborough and her children, Zina Waldron, Charles Richard Clark, and Cade Ryan Clark; his son, Dwayne Thompson of Marlborough, his sisters and brothers, June McNulty of Framingham, Stephen Thompson of Waterville, ME, Cheryl Long of Olympia, WA and John Thompson of Haddam, CT, and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will honor and remember Jim's life by gathering on Wednesday morning at 8:30 a.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham before leaving in procession at 9 am to the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne where committal services will be held at 11 a.m.
